Barbezieux, Les Petits Clairons (Charente). Un établissement rural du premier Age du Fer

A large VIth century B.C. open settlement area was excavated along the national motorway 10 at Barbazieux in 1994-1995. Remains scattered over an area of 1.5 hectares, which include lofts, combustion structures, extraction pits and rubbish dumps, arranged within spaces structured by boarding, form a body of evidence of remarkable interest for theregion.The study of the pottery, which is based on 5500 potsherds, has allowed to establish a varied typology : this will certainly make the deposit of Barbezieux an essential landmark in the establishment of the typo-chronology of the First Iron Age pottery production in the centre-West region.

Résumé La fouille de ce vaste habitat ouvert du VIe siècle a.C. a été réalisée en 1994 et 1995 sur le tracé de la route nationale 10 à Barbezieux. L'importance des vestiges qui associent sur près d'1,5 hectare des greniers, structures de combustion, fosses d'extraction et dépotoirs à l'intérieur d'espaces structurés par des palissades en font un ensemble d'un intérêt remarquable pour la région. L'étude de la céramique qui repose sur plus de 5500 tessons a permis de définir une typologie variée : cette série fera certainement du gisement de Barbezieux un jalon essentiel dans la définition de la typo-chronologie des productions céramiques du premier Age du Fer en centre-ouest.
