Interactions Homme / Environnement depuis le Néolithique : impacts anthropiques sur la morphogenèse colluviale en contexte de pied de versant à Mareuil‑le‑Port (Grand Est, Marne)

Abstract : Located on a footslope near the Marne valley, the INRAP archaeological surveys and excavations at Mareuil-le-Port « Terre des Morts » locality yielded a thick colluvial sequence sealing an anthropized palaeosol during the Middle Neolithic. The pedosedimentary sequence documents the rhythmicity of erosion and sedimentation processes, within at least one phase of landscape stability marked by slight pedogenetic processes correlated to the Atlantic period. Few archaeological remains, mainly lithic artefacts from the second Middle Neolithic phase, suggest a human occupation during this period. Five OSL dating samples were collected in order to refine the chronostratigraphy of the pedosedimentary sequence. Dating results indicate that the first colluvial deposits correlate with the end of the Late Glacial period (11.82 ± 0.66 ka, Younger Dryas). Then, landscape stability lasts until the end of the Atlantic (5.59 ± 0.31 ka), before an increasing detrital sedimentary input during the Subboreal (3.25 ± 0.16 ka, 2.51 ± 0.13 ka), linked with the human presence during the end of the Bronze Age. The macro and micromorphological study of the pedosedimentary sequence shows the impact of human forcing on soil crusting, accelerating the erosional processes. These data suggest an anthropogenic forcing on landscape evolution and complete the fluvial archives regularly studied in the Paris Basin and at the Northwestern European scale.
