Des études d’archéologie du bâti dans les Antilles françaises

Abstract : This paper presents a panel of several archaeological studies carried out on built sites in the West Indies. The surveys carried out in a preventive framework are based on a study of the entire building or on diagnostic windows, depending on the case. They concern very different contexts: urban in Saint-Pierre in Martinique; military in Saint-Barthélemy; colonial dwellings in Guadeloupe and Martinique; religious in Mayotte. The West Indian sites are all part of the colonial period (17th-19th centuries), whereas the site in Mayotte is linked to a mosque built in the 12th century.
