Chapitre XII : Étude des mammifères terrestres et marins, des Chéloniens et de l’avifaune du tell d’Akkaz (Koweït)

Abstract : This study concerns all the marine and terrestrial mammals, the chelonians and the birds found at Tell Akkaz. The state of preservation is average with some decalcification of the bones and the presence of concretions. Thus, for a total of 11,408 remains, only 3484 could be determined to a satisfactory taxonomic level. The remaining 7909 elements are grouped according to classes defined by the size and the terrestrial or aquatic origin of the individuals: marine animals (marine turtle, dugong); large mammals (donkey, dromedary); middle-sized mammals (sheep, goat, dog, gazelle); small mammals (cat); micro-mammals (jird); undetermined mammals ; undetermined birds.
