Le diagnostic comme outil de recherche : l’expérience collective nîmoise

Abstract : Practice of archaeological diagnostics in Nîmes region, a limited territory rich in remains, is based on the work of a large research group which develops problems covering all chronological periods. Numerous evaluations carried out on small areas have made this type of intervention an important research tool; data collected are used for many themes such as landscape restitution, urban topography, land structuring or land use. This article presents this collective approach of archaeological diagnostics and its use as a major scientific tool.
