Évaluations archéologiques en contexte sous-marin offshore : un nouveau protocole

Abstract : While three decades of ‘rescuing’ archaeological sites on land have provided us with sufficient experience as to now assess the discipline’s contribution to research, rescue archaeology at sea, still in its infancy, is currently focusing on refining its operational methods. In addition, this article endeavours to draw conclusions on the influence four years of rescue archaeology has had on development projects situated offshore. It outlines the methodological principles and major results, and insists on the necessary development of methods yet underemployed in the detection of potential archaeological remains in the sea. Originally, temporary in nature, this measure was an integral part of rescue archaeology legislation in December 2017.
