Diagnostic archéologique et financement de la recherche : le point de vue des collectivités territoriales

Abstract : As local authorities have always considered archaeological diagnostic as an essential act of research as well as a tool for knowledge of territories, they grant it very substantial resources. Their objective has always been to collect information in the best possible way and not to generate additional operations. Indeed, diagnostic should not be considered as the preliminary stage of a preventive archaeological excavation. It constitutes an operation in its own right and justifies the implementation of appropriate means, and therefore proportionate funding.
