Le pignon sud du grand logis du Collège des Bernardins. Remblais urbains, chantier de construction et production céramique sur la rive gauche de Paris au XIIIe s.

Abstract : Restoration of the Great Hall of the Saint Bernard College between 2003 and 2008 provided an opportunity for studying the process of sediment formation and the build-up of landfill deposit associated with the construction of this ecclesiastical complex on Paris’ Left Bank. Substantial back-fill layers, comprised of waste from pottery workshops contemporary with the Hall’s construction, demonstrate waste management in the urban context. Furthermore, these deposits provide the first direct evidence of a medieval pottery industry on the Left Bank of the Seine.
